RAG Evidence Layer
Ingrid does not begin with a conclusion. It begins with evidence retrieval. The RAG layer searches the legal evidence library for material connected to the question, subject, and requested jurisdiction.
TruthMode Validation
TruthMode evaluates whether the available legal evidence is strong enough to support a useful answer. It does not treat every source as equal and does not assume that a general legal rule applies uniformly in every jurisdiction.
- Authority ranking: primary and controlling legal authority receives greater weight than explanatory material.
- Jurisdiction awareness: state-sensitive questions are checked against the requested jurisdiction.
- Evidence coverage: the system checks whether enough relevant evidence was retrieved.
- Conflict detection: inconsistent rule values or competing authorities can trigger warnings.
- Confidence scoring: evidence quality, authority, jurisdiction match, official sourcing, and freshness contribute to confidence.
- Missing-evidence warnings: Ingrid can hold a conclusion when the evidence base is too weak.
- Human review: low-confidence, conflicting, or jurisdiction-deficient questions can be escalated instead of forced into an answer.
Jurisdiction Matters
Legal rules can change depending on whether the question is governed by federal law, state law, or another controlling jurisdiction. Tort law is especially jurisdiction-sensitive, while federal criminal and constitutional questions may depend heavily on federal statutes, constitutional provisions, and controlling federal precedent.
Original Legal Intelligence
The Law & Liability knowledge layer is designed around concise original summaries, source metadata, citations, subject classification, and evidence rules. It is not built by copying full legal articles, commentary, or other copyrighted material into the system.
Retrieved evidence is synthesized into a new response while preserving the source path so that the underlying authority can be reviewed.
